As its 8th project supported by the Youth in Action programme of the European Commision, the Youth Dialogue Programme organised “To Empower through Experience”, training focused on facilitating experiential learning in youth work. The training took place from 11th to 21st January in Sremski Karlovci.

The project included organisations from 11 European countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Macedonia, Montenegro,Romania, Serbia, Spain and the UK, with a total number of 26 participants as direct beneficiaries in the project.

The aim of this project was to increase the quality of youth work by equipping youth workers (coordinators, facilitators, mentors) with competencies in facilitating experiential learning.

The project was based on an intensive experiential learning process to reach following objectives:

  • To increase the knowledge in experiential learning (theory, concepts, steps, philosophy);
  • To increase the practical facilitation skills in experiential learning cycle in various settings;
  • To develop practical skills in designing and implementing experiential learning activities.

During the training course participants’ personal and professional competencies (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) as youth workers and facilitators of experiential learning were tackled and upgraded. The training was highly practical and based on experiential learning process and on increasing the impact and transfer in their work and communities.

Educational team was composed of 3 trainers from Romania, Serbia and the UK, with more than 10 years of experience in experiential learning, youth work and training youth workers and trainers across Europe.

Now I know how it looks like to be a facilitator.

This training helped me because I gained the proper competencies to facilitate workshops, trainings in the following period mostly.

I got inspiration. The TC provided me with useful experiences and activities that I will use in my work.

It was good opportunity to meet new people and make further planned projects. I gained a lot of good information about learning to learn and facilitation. It was really nice that we had chance to do workshops.

It was really useful, because was good cohesion between theory and practice.
